Maiden to Married – Coaching brides and their families on the emotional and psychological transition from single woman to wife and into the first months and year of marriage.

I first remember picking up a book to help figure out what was “really” going on with people at a time in my life when it seemed of the utmost importance – when my high school boyfriend broke up with me.  The book was John Gray’s Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.  Refusing to believe I had to be tossed around at whim by any little emotion life brought upon me, I started a journey of self-examination and exploration, reading books and engaging in conversations on what makes people tick and what are some basic human truths that run though all of us. It’s an exciting journey I’m still on and feel is never fully complete.

Beginning when I was little, I was an actress.  I was in many plays in elementary school and high school and received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in Theatre Arts and spent my junior year studying in London, England.  Although this degree may not seem directly related to coaching, at the core of creating a character is finding the subtext – what the characters really mean, though they don’t say it directly.  Basically, finding out what made them tick.

After college I took various workshops and courses in self-examination and self-discovery.  I was a participant in and graduate of the Landmark Forum, the Landmark Advanced Course and the Landmark Self-Expression and Leadership Course.  I learned about true integrity and honesty, both with those around me and with myself.  Although I always loved helping others, it was here that my listening and helping skills were honed.

In the Spring of 2006, I met my husband, Tom, in Los Angeles performing improv comedy at The Second City, and in the Spring of 2008 we were married.  I participated in my own wedding journey and immediately wanted to share the knowledge I gained with other brides.  Shortly after, we gathered up their things and journeyed across the country in a little Penske truck to make Franklin, Tennessee our new home.  This is where we reside with our dog, Sampson.

Currently, she is in the process of completing the Core Essentials Program with Coach Inc., a life coaching school accredited by the International Coaching Federation.

In this blog, I’m interested in creating a dialogue between brides, newlyweds and wives regarding the journey from single woman to wife.
